The Blue Mediterranean Partnership (BMP) is a platform for coordinating interventions and leveraging resources to enable sustainable blue economy investments in the Mediterranean region.  The BMP seeks to increase coherence, cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders concerned to increase the impact and visibility of sustainable blue economy investments around the Mediterranean.  Today’s event will be a signing ceremony of the Blue Mediterranean Partnership (BMP), which is a key milestone towards making it operational at the start of 2024.

Sweden is committed to having net-zero emissions by 2045. This target requires a substantial transformation of all levels of society. As part of this mission, the Swedish Parliament in 2017 adopted a climate policy framework for Sweden. The framework includes climate goals, a Climate Act and the Swedish Climate Policy Councill.

In this panel, you will hear about the solutions. How enabling technology will provide seamless exchange of carbon data. 

Transitioning to a circular economy reduces carbon emissions and is a powerful tool in climate mitigation efforts. Simultaneously a circular economy leads to a decreased demand for virgin raw materials and decreases the pressure on ecosystems, which in turn has a positive effect on climate adaptation efforts. This session explores how circularity offers synergies between mitigation and adaptation and demonstrates how Swedish innovations and circular business models contribute towards this goal.

The session will discuss how growth, emissions reductions and economic empowerment can go hand in hand, and how successful partnerships and strategic alliances between local business communities in Sweden, the EU and globally are the main drivers of all three. 

Export credits are instrumental in expediting the green transition by providing crucial financial support for sustainable projects and initiatives. However, it's imperative that these credits are allocated to the right kind of projects, prioritizing those that have been thoroughly assessed and align with environmentally responsible practices.
