Sweden’s high-level business delegation to Texas took place on 16–18 March 2026, in conjunction with the official inauguration of Sweden’s new Consulate General in Houston.

The official inauguration also formed part of Sweden’s Commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of U.S. Independence.

Background of the event
Texas is one of the world’s most dynamic and fast‑growing economies, with distinctive strengths in areas that closely align with Sweden’s industrial capabilities and innovation leadership, including space technology and systems, life sciences and advanced health solutions.

With over 90 Swedish companies already established in the state, Texas continues to represent both a significant existing footprint and strong potential for deeper partnerships, expanded operations, and new market opportunities, further underscored by the strong engagement and interest seen during the delegation visit.

The opening of Sweden’s new Consulate General in Houston strengthens Sweden’s presence not only in Texas but across the Mid West and South Western regions of the US, providing an enhanced platform to support Swedish companies and facilitate continued collaboration with local stakeholders.

The delegation visit focused on connecting Swedish companies with Texas’ leading innovation and industrial ecosystems, with a program spanning Houston and Austin and including engagements with key institutions such as Space Center Houston, NASA Johnson Space Center, Texas Medical Center, and leading innovation hubs.

The visit also included Sweden’s participation in the signing of the Pax Silica initiative, strengthening cooperation with international partners to secure supply chains for critical and emerging technologies and further reinforcing the strategic importance of Sweden–US collaboration.

Key outcomes of the visit and delegation
Through curated visits, roundtables, and meetings, participants were able to:

  • Engage in high‑level dialogues within space, life sciences, advanced technology, and innovation ecosystems.
  • Explore commercial, industrial, and research partnerships with leading actors across sectors where Swedish solutions and expertise are in high demand.
  • Connect with senior decision‑makers, key industry leaders, and major institutions driving technological and economic development in Texas.
  • Gain deeper insights into one of the United States’ most influential innovation environments, with particular momentum in sectors such as aerospace, biotechnology, and emerging technologies.

The visit further strengthened connections between Swedish and Texan stakeholders and laid a strong foundation for continued engagement and collaboration going forward.
