BACKGROUND & CONTEXT 

Organised by Business Sweden (the Swedish Trade and Invest Council) in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden in Dublin, the Resilience Forum takes place during the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It follows from recent triple-helix Swedish-Irish roundtable discussions on resilience in 2025-26, having identified a need for a platform to promote enhanced collaboration, preparedness and innovation. 

With security among the three key Irish Presidency priorities, the Resilience Forum seeks to provide a platform for exchange on building resilience and addressing security challenges in the context of growing geopolitical instability. This will include dialogue opportunities dedicated to enhancing Swedish-Irish, as well as EU- and international level collaboration, in light of threats to critical infrastructure, maritime security as well as hybrid challenges. 

In the context of “the European year of competitiveness” in 2026 and the Irish EU policy priority of competitiveness, and the importance of securing open trade will also feature as part of the Resilience Forum – including ensuring global trade flows, supply chains and shipping routes. 

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE RESILIENCE FORUM

•    Provide a platform to identify measures to contribute to enhancing European resilience and security through a unique combination of perspectives from Swedish-Irish, EU and international stakeholders 

•    Encourage bilateral exchange and collaboration opportunities between Swedish and Irish organisations and companies, including through an informal add-on voluntary meeting programme for select participants 

•    Further progress tangible and practical collaboration initiatives, ideas and formats between Sweden and Ireland. 

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Resilience Forum is arranged with a clear objective of providing a platform to identify measures to contribute to enhancing European resilience and security through a unique combination of perspectives from Swedish-Irish, EU and international stakeholders. Participants can expect a half-day conference programme which seeks to encourage bilateral exchange and collaboration opportunities between Swedish and Irish organisations and companies.For further information regarding the conference content, please refer to the 'Programme' section.

PARTICIPATION

Please note that places at the event are strictly limited and will be allocated at a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that the event will take place under the Chatham House rule and that any separate bilateral meetings may be arranged outside of the main conference programme. 

Participants are responsible for booking their own accommodation and flights.
