At Stockholm Exergi, we have set our sights on large-scale capture and storage of carbon dioxide using BECCS at our bioenergy-generation plant in Stockholm’s Värtan neighborhood.
Through BECCS projects, Sweden can contribute to counteracting climate change by reducing the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. Stockholm Exergi plans to build Sweden’s first a full-scale BECCS plant. When it is fully operational, it will be able to capture 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

A fully-developed BECCS industry can generate up to 28,000 employment opportunities in Sweden.
BECCS is a potential export service. Sweden could export over 20 million tons of negative emissions per year.
