Why participate at COP28?
COP28 will gather up to 80,000 delegates, including heads of state, government officials, business leaders, scientists, climate experts, NGOs, and civil society – to negotiate and agree actions to mitigate the worst effects of climate change.
This will be a milestone event featuring the first-ever Global Stocktake, with the aim of assessing the progress made in meeting climate targets. This offers a pivotal opportunity to demonstrate positive advancements in global climate action and identify critical implementation gaps that will guide the direction for the future of our planet.
The science is clear: we need to cut global emissions by half by 2030.
The transition from a fossil fuel dependent world economy to a net-zero, ciruclar economy is both necessary and possible; and presents opportunities and prerequisites for jobs, prosperity, and economic growth.
As the urgency increases, so does the need to develop and implement resilient mitigation and adaptation solutions. Many of these solutions exist today; however, they must be rapidly and exponentially scaled to limit global warming and stay within planetary boundaries.
Business Sweden is providing an exclusive platform to showcase science-based solutions in the areas of innovation, policy, and finance.
Together with Sweden’s pioneering businesses and thought leaders, we are committed to collaborating to scale climate mitigation and adaptation – and increasing Sweden's global contribution to Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement.
The time is now. The race is on. Together, lets pioneer the possible.

Sweden's climate action agenda
Sustainability and innovation are part of Sweden’s DNA. Sweden was the first country in the world to pass an environmental protection act, the first to host the United Nations conference on the environment in 1972, and one of the first countries to introduce a carbon tax.
But that is just the beginning of the journey. Today, Sweden's goal is to become the world's first fossil fuel-free welfare nation while scaling its climate solutions globally.
While policymakers have set the direction of the green transition, the private sector has taken climate policy and turned it into business practice; working collaboratively to pioneer the possible and impact change on a global scale.
To accelerate this transformation, Sweden is utilising three keys to unlock the full potential of the green transition: innovation, policy, and finance.
Innovation
We have innovative solutions bold enough to make a real difference
Policy
We are pushing for policies that will move us from dialogue to action, within the planetary boundaries.
Finance
We have a variety of financial systems distributing capital to climate solutions
