The role of Climate Policy Frameworks in driving the green transition Video on demand

Friday December 8, 2023 17:00 - 17:40 +04 Swedish Pavilion

Sweden is committed to having net-zero emissions by 2045. This target requires a substantial transformation of all levels of society. As part of this mission, the Swedish Parliament in 2017 adopted a climate policy framework for Sweden. The framework includes climate goals, a Climate Act and the Swedish Climate Policy Councill.

The Climate Policy Council is an independent, interdisciplinary expert body tasked with evaluating how well the Government’s overall policy is aligned with the climate goals established by the Parliament and the Government.

What role do Climate Policy Frameworks play in driving green transition and what can countries learn from each other? How do Climate Policy Councils collaborate internationally to increase the momentum of the transition? And how do Climate Policy Frameworks and the work carried out by Climate Policy Councils enable business and other stakeholder involvement and joint action

During this session, representatives from; the Swedish Climate Policy Council, the Climate Change Committee in UK, the Presidential Climate Commission in South Africa and the business sector will share their perspectives on these issues, discuss key learnings and the road ahead.
