DAY 1

Introduction to the program and Sweden heat history, regulations and drivers to innovation


12.00 - 13.30 Networking Lunch


13.30 - 16:00 Combined workshop and site visits at Öresundskraft DH company

  • Conversion of old CHP plant, from coal to oil to biomass. Refurbished to island operation and regional electricity capacity services.
  • District Cooling from surplus heat (absorption) and sea water free cooling.
  • Waste heat recovery from treated sewage water. 15 MW heat pump, installed in the 1980s, reinvestment plan.
  • Large scale reuse of industrial surplus heat from Kemira chemical plant, supplying 1/3 of city DH need.
  • CCS-project, Carbon-Capture-Storage from existing Waste CHP plant.
  • DH expansion in suburbs – from building gas boilers to DH.
  • Interconnection and optimisation of DH in five municipalities.
  • Impulses from tech experts.

DAY 2

8th October 2025

09.00 - 10.30 Morning session - Workshop
Workshop on asset management, preservation and maintenance of district heating networks. Workshop with IEA DHC TS6 on predictive maintenance, led by Öresundskraft and German DH Association (AGFW). Impulses from tech experts.






10.30 - 12.00 Site visit underground

See the backbone DH system built in the early 1960s and how it is monitored, refurbished, preserved, aiming at 100-year service life-time.



12.00 - 13.30 Joint Lunch 


13.30 - End of program
