Sweden is committed to having net-zero emissions by 2045. This target requires a substantial transformation of all levels of society. As part of this mission, the Swedish Parliament in 2017 adopted a climate policy framework for Sweden. The framework includes climate goals, a Climate Act and the Swedish Climate Policy Councill.

The ambition of the Inauguration of the Swedish Pavilion is to mirror the vision and the key messages for our COP28 engagement. Hence, the inauguration aims to: - Illustrate the good examples of cross-border and cross-sector collaboration, public-private partnerships. - Showcase best practice examples in the areas of policy, finance, and innovations needed to mitigate the climate crises and to achieve the Paris Agreement. - Make sure our vision and objectives are aligned with the official negotiation agenda of COP28 and that conversations around adaptation, mitigation, finance, and loss and damage, are at the forefront of all our discussions. - Ensure a diverse representation in terms of gender, age, and nationality from the government of Sweden of and other UN member states, private sector, public sector, Academia, NGO, and youth. This transformation is a historic chance to build a better world. The Blue Mediterranean Partnership (BMP) is a platform for coordinating interventions and leveraging resources to enable sustainable blue economy investments in the Mediterranean region.  The BMP seeks to increase coherence, cooperation and coordination among all stakeholders concerned to increase the impact and visibility of sustainable blue economy investments around the Mediterranean.  Today’s event will be a signing ceremony of the Blue Mediterranean Partnership (BMP), which is a key milestone towards making it operational at the start of 2024.
